View Full Version : Might wanna replace IP and FPII

I`ve almost used up all my IP and FPII and looking for suggestions on possible replacement before buying again.

I`ve had great luck with both. My only complaint is as follows:

IP= Good cut, can leave some haziness that FPII can`t clean up.

FPII= Great final polish but has to be used 2 or 3 times to clean up IP`s haziness.

I`m looking at 105 DA version from Meguiars and 205 as a 1-2 punch. Any opinions on this? Can 105 finish out like IP i.e. light hazing but can be cleaned up by 205? How do you all like 105 on the DA? I`m interested since it has been reformulated for DA use.

I need something strong enough as IP and something that can clean up what IP leaves behind AND finish like FPII.

I have an 07 BLACK Nissan Pathfinder that seems to be quirky as IP can clean it up (light marring swirling) easy but has trouble finishing.

Thanks!

Are you sure that you have been breaking down the IP fully? I just don`t remember that complaint before (that FPII won`t clean up from IP easily). I`m sure that one common suggestion is going to be SIP followed by P106ff

I agree on the sip/106ff combo.

I`m not sure I wanna pay to play. Any other alternatives to the sip/106ff combo? 105/205 12 oz samples are less than 1 bottle of either.

I`m worried to try the DA version of 105 and 205 since they are so new there aren`t really any reviews out yet.

I guess I could stay with the IP and FPII, just have an itch to try something new. However, I`m not interested in another hype product that sits on the counter collecting dust.

Direct replacements that I have tried so far is Prima Swirl (IP) and Prima Finish (SPII). These two are also similar to SIP and 106FF in my experience.

You`ll have a hard time trying to find a two polish combo significantly better then IP & FPII.

I`m sure the Meg`s guys will preach that nothing is better than 105/205, but I really can`t see being without SIP/106.

There you have it MC, two of the most respected names on this forum. Check out Pakshak, they have the 16oz size for under 20 bucks.

M105 has a lot more cut than IP. Actually, IP should not be leaving a haze since it reallyd oesn`t have much cut to it. I use SIP to clean up M105 followed by Ultrafina. I don`t really know what pad you are using so it is tough to tell why IP would be creating a hazed but it shouldn`t.

The new version of M105 doesn`t seem to be any different than the old. Actually, I almost think that there is no difference especially since the old version worked perfectly fine when I would us the UDM in tight spots.

Thank you for the input so far. Can`t get SIP and 106 under the 32oz. I wonder if Wolfgang 3.0 swirl remover and finishing glaze would be an alternative. I know I can get these from autogeek in 16oz sizes

The only problem I`ve ever had with IP is dusting... but aside from that, it`s a great medium polish and I`ve never had a problem with FPII not being able to clean up after it

Agree on the dust with IP, even though it was my go-to medium polish for a long time, I`m loving SIP on a PFW with my Flex!
