Is this paint burn?

I was recently in an accident and had to get a new rear bumper. After doing a wash I noticed 2 cloudy spots on the bumper. Is this paint burn from polishing/waxing?



I don`t understand how any detailer can stand taking their car to a body shop. These are the smaller issues I`ve found. Ugh.

I could be a paint burn but i highly doubt that a body shop would be that negligent.



To upload pictures, the majority of people here use a photobucket type image hosting site. Pictures that you upload to the autopia usually have to be pretty small so that is why most of us use photo-bucket, its easier and free. Once we have a picture, it will be much easier to diagnose the problem.

It might have been wet sanded and they didnt do a good job buffing the area.........

That first pic is kinda hard to say, maybe missed that spot when compounding. The 2nd pic definitely looks like sloppy compounding!

I thought you had to wait 4-6 weeks before applying wax and stuff to a freshly painted surface by the way.

tha`ts def wet sand which the body shop did not do a good job compounding

Ah sounds like it`s the "compounding". I`m not sure what that is, but I`m sure I can search on here and find out. I just wanted to be informed before I take it back to the shop on Monday when they`re open. Thanks!

yes I like to wait 3 months(or more for wax/sealant

but you can coumpound/polish fresh paint

Compounding is just a different way of saying "strong polishing"

So basically there isn`t any seal/wax on the new body panels at the moment? They basically return the car to you after wet sanding/polishing?

Oh and also ... to fix this could I just polish those areas a bit more? I`m new to detailing and have a brand new flex 3401 sitting at home with a bunch of CCS pads and Menzerna.

Looks to me like they wet sanded that part and forgot to polish it out.
