been reading and reading, and there are so many options I`m getting headaches! :dig
here is what I`m planning on using for prep/pre-finish:
Clay
Menzerna SIP/Orange pad
Menzerna 106ff/ Green Pad
Menzerna PO85RD/Blue Pad
Menzerna Top inspection in between.
I want:
a) something that lasts more than 3 washes!
b) something that doesn`t cost $500-$2500 like the high end swissvax stuff.
i`m leaning towards:
Lusso Oro or Swissvax Onyx, as far as Waxes, or Use Zaino Z2 pro as the finish.
Other recommendations are highly appreciated as well.
ps- my cars that will be used: Saphire black BMW X5, and Alpine White BMW 135i

If you are looking for durability and a reasonable price, I would go with Zaino, Collinite, or Klearcoat Carnauba Moose Wax.

Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant is great if you want a sealant. Also fuzion is on sale at autogeek.net for $69. It`s a sealant/carnuba wax combo. Comes w/a paint cleanser, but you don`t get the refill. It usually caosts $175 w/a refill.

Collinite 918 has a high end wax finish, for a low end wax price. It scored very well against some of those high end boutique waxes over on DW in their Wax-off last year.

Very interested for a link to this DW wax-off you speak of.

Dave KG posted it here on Autopia. The Wax Test - Looks Full Results - Autopia.org (http://autopia.org/forum/car-detailing/109920-wax-test-looks-full-results.html)

I`d go with 476s by collinite or IW845 by collinite as well. If you go with 476s, do a panal at a time (apply, then wipe off) DO NOT LET IT DRY. However if you do IW845, I do the entire vehicle and wipe off after applied to the whole car.
I do like Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0, very slick, and very nice looking. I get 2.5 to 3 months out of IW845, and 4 to 5 months out of 476s.
over all I`d choose collinite its available locally for me at Harbor Freight for about $9.xx or so, and its got a good look and great durability....

Just wondering why you don`t use a white pad?

You might want to search, as I`m not 100% certain of this, but I believe the Collinite paste waxes are all the same (Fleetwax #885, 476s, and #915). If that`s the case just get #885, it`s the better value of the three.

Maybee a finishing pad, like a red, blue or gold LC pad.
