I ordered some new Optimum Metal Polish (OMP) a couple of weeks ago and just got an opportunity to use it today.

A guy emailed me this morning about getting a detail done on his pearl white 07 Cadillac Escalade ESV with 26" chrome wheels. He wanted a wash, clay, and wax, but he was really concerned about his wheels. He said they really look horrible and they don`t shine like they should. I had some errands to run this morning so I told him I would come by around 1pm. I get there and the truck is dirty, but looks sweet! You can never really tell what kind of shape something is in until you wash it so thats what I told the client. I washed the truck and the wheels with ONR and went from there. The wheels were really spotted up, scratched, and oxidized.

I generally use Mothers chrome polish, but not today, and never again! I tried the MCP first just to compare it to the OMP. The MCP wouldn`t even cut through the spotting so I tossed it to the side and pulled out my new OMP. I don`t need to say anymore, the pictures speak for themselves!

Front passenger side rim after wash with ONR before OMP.

More before OMP, notice all of the spotting and oxidation.

Now for the afters! Just a simple hand polish with OMP maybe 15 minutes per rim. Night and day difference? I don`t know, you tell me! The tires were dressed with Megs Endurance tire gel.

the rims look good..

don`t take this the wrong way but

all the before pic are in full sun showing all the water spots and spiderwebs

and the afters are in the shade showing that the product cleaned the water spots

and that`s all the pics show

sorry but I don`t see a review of a "polish"

I`ve been using the metal polish for about 4-5 months now. I haven`t used it on anything particularly bad so I can only comment on how it works on metal that is mostly just lightly stained/dirty and in those cases, I`ve been getting excellent results.

Thanks for taking the time to do the review. I just picked up a bottle of OMP. I can`t wait to give it a try.

I`m debating getting some of this for my Tanabe exhaust. Does the polish turn dark like your typical metal polish during the cleaning process?

Maybe I should have titled this thread "My experience with OMP?" Whatever, you get the point.

Thanks guys.

The polish itself is pink, but it does not turn dark on the metal just on the terry cloth. It seemed to almost get white on the chrome.

I just got a PM from Anthony Orosco over on the Optimum board asking me to let you know that the polish only turns black if you are polishing bare aluminum.

These wheels were uncoated?

Yes, they were chrome plated with no coating I believe.

does anything else need to be applied over top the OMP as a sealant? I`m ready to buy online right now!

Hmm Ive been considering giving this a try. It looks to be pretty impressive.

Nice little writeup there. Did it improve some of the marring on the wheels?

Hopefully the OP will see these posts and respond... the thread is kinda old. Those wheels do look fantastic, though.

No you don`t need to apply anything over OMP it seals also.

It did remove some of the fine scratches in the wheels and it does fill just a bit.

I was most impressed with the gloss it left. I have used it many times since I posted this and I`m amazed every time.

Great result... How about Optimum Metal Polish compare to Meguiar`s NXT Metal Polish?
