Ceramic Clearcoat - Diamond Cut OK?

Everyone,



On a silver, brand new Merc S-class with ceramic clearcoat, what would be your strategy to buff/compound the ceramic clear to a very high degree of gloss?

Not much problems except for some water-marks on the hood. But I`m aiming for max results.



I was thinking of the following:

1. Megs No85 with W5000 double-sided woolpad - 1st round of cutting.

2. FF106 with Megs Polishing Pad and FLEX.

3. PO85RD fine polishing with Megs Finishing pad + FLEX.



Can Megs 85 be used for compounding ceramic clears, or shd I replace it with Menzerna IP? I only have IP, 106FF and PO85RD. what`s your thought, guys???

I haven`t worked on Mercedes clear coat, but I wouldn`t jump straight from wool+compound to 106FF. I just don`t see any need to cut much from a new car anyway. I`d think something like SIP+green or orange, 106FF+black or white, 85RD+black, blue, red would be better and wouldn`t introduce so much marring in a brand new finish.

I think in your case I would recommend:



1) M105 Orange/White Lake Country pad (or PFW if you choose)

2) SIP/IP White Lake Country pad

3) PO85RD on Black/Blue



Good cut, brilliant finish, and doesn`t require exceptional skill to make it to work. Definitely a good choice for you. :)
