I always thought cold water is the best for washing micro fibers. However, after reading in the newbie thread, they have link (Thoughts and Insights (http://thedetailinghandbook.com/Thoughts_and_Insights.aspx)) where its states that warm to hot water is best.

So which is it? Cold or Hot?

I like warm water the best.

I`ve washed mine in hot for years. Haven`t had a problem. From an energy standpoint, I guess warm might be less costly.

From Neatitems.com a supplier of high quality MFs ---

Micro Fiber washing instructions:

Hand wash with dish soap in hot water or machine wash with laundry detergent. Do not use bleach (bleach will shorten the life of your micro fiber cloths.) Do not use fabric softener (fabric softener leaves a film on the cloths.) Be careful when machine washing or drying in mixed loads (micro fiber cloths will pick up lint from other fabrics.) Air dry or put in dryer on low heat.

What temperature is warm and what is too hot? For example is 40 Celsius okay? Or maybe even 60`C (?)

Agreed. I only wash in hot and have been for years with zero adverse effects. The only thing I`ll wash in cold are waffle weaves that dried the car without getting any QD, spray wax or dirt on them

Hot water for me. I usually use dish soap, though.

I have washed hundreds of microfiber over the years. Many waxes are difficult to remove. Hot water works best. I remember an Adams video where they said to boil the towels. I`ve never had any damage with hot washing machine cleaning.

I wash all my MF at 60C(140F), seems to get them nice and clean.

I also use hot, that has the best chance of getting wax/sealant/dressing out of them. Only problem with hot water is some fading/bleeding of colors on the first wash or two. If you have white towels that you want to stay that way, don`t wash them in hot with new blue or red etc. towels or MF applicators...don`t ask me how I know ;)
