Ok maybe the title is exagerated a litle...but I was checking out my dads 2005 C230 Coupe Compresser the other day and he parks next to sprinklers that go off every night, never washes his car, lets bird poop sit there for months, dents in the side, etc. and i gave it a great washing hte other day, and was just checking out the paint, and besides dents and bird etching, swirl-wise, the paint was in EXTREMELY good condition for 100k miles...my car with 10k miles has more swirls...is the reason he has so little swirls because he keeps it so dirty?

give it a thorough wash and then use the halogens and see if there is any difference still...

Very likely.... no washing = no wash induced swirls...

that`s about right. hey, after the finish gets dirty once and is not washed, only the dirt keeps getting dirty :nervous: :rofl.

Yep, besides RIDS from people setting stuff on the car and from touching it while it`s dirty, most marring comes from washing/drying.

chromecarz00- Check the doors and trunk lid...I bet you`ll find some marring there from people touching the paint when closing those.
