Ok well I just purchased a 2004 svt lightning in bright red and it looks sweet it only has 9097 miles on it and the previous owner "waxed" it regularly. Very few light swirls and I can wipe them out no problem. I normally would have no problems with polishing the paint it seems to be rather hard on this truck. It also has many "rids" over the entire vehicle cannot feel any of the scratches 83 on the pc with a polishing pad wont touch them I have a rotary and use it often, I am trying to be the least aggressive as possible with this vehicle. 83 on the rotary with polishing pad seems to take them out except for a few deepers ones again all over the vehicle. I am only using the rotary at 1000rpm as I am trying to be super careful. I have 105 and 85 also which would be the better route and what kind of pad should I use wool or foam cutting. I would then follow it with 83 on rotary then 80 pc.....What would you do and why? Thanks Greg

105 should take care of everything, might have to make a couple passes. Make sure you finish down well with finsih pad and finish polish because the torch red will show halogramming.

does anyone feel that I would be removing too much clear with the 105 on wool cutting pad over the entire truck I usually only use it for spot application For some reason I am very leery of my own vehicle I never am when it comes to someone elses lol???

You`d get a lot more responses posting this in the car detailing or machine polishing forums. This forum is for professionals to discuss the basics of running a detailing business, not answer questions about detailing in general. The other two forums get a lot more traffic and you will get more feedback.

I`m sure he means wax it once a month. Not all of the heavy polishing.

oops, yeah, wax once a month,

do all three steps once a year if needed, and go with 83/80/wax every six months...paint will be looking tip top longer than you have the car!
