I met a guy at a detailing get together in Chicago who was looking for someone to do his vehicles. So far, he brought me a Mazda MPV (pictures here (http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y268/chevroletz71ss/ES%20Detailing/1998%20MPV/)) and liked it so much that he and his wife brought me his BMW.

These are the befores.

Brought the car into my garage and inspected it under a halogen work lamp..

Faded , oxidized , streaked paint.

Me and my stepfather decided we`d go to wal mart and purchase a cheap buffer and some polishing compound. We then got to work. After we went over the whole car with PC, we wiped it down thoroughly, and then applied liquid glass pre cleaner to every single panel. After that, we both went to bed.

This morning, I woke up and put a layer of liquid glass on the car and that was the icing to the cake.. The customer dropped this car off monday night, it is (more than likely) being picked up tonight.. I`m eager and anxious to see his response when he sees the car above, looking like this.. These were taken little under an hour ago. Enjoy.

Nice job. How did you like using the LG pre-cleaner and LG?

It worked pretty well I have to say.. I want a better polishing compound. It was cheapie turtle wax **** that I bought in the heat of the moment since I had to get this done.

What cheap buffer did you use? I was under the impression that these cheap buffers were basically useless, especially on German cars. I have a VW and an Audi, would one of these buffers be useless for me because of the hard clear? I`m not ready to sink money into a Porter Cable yet, so looking to go cheaper.

Am I correct that your entire process was wash, clay, polish, pre-wax cleaner, and wax?

you would be correct.

I found the buffer at wal mart.. It was $14 if I remember right. Lemmie go get a picture of the container for you.

and yeah, this was also to get me until I can get a better one (also thinking PC.)

This is my first buffer.. We got two of them. One for buffing, one for polishing. I figure once I get into it more, I`ll get a better one. :)

You can pick up a cheap rotary that will be much better than that at harbor freight for about 40 bucks. Then you just need to buy pads and start out working it slow lol. Great work BTW. I`m sure the owner was happy with the results.
