I have recently acquired this car from my mother. It has been sitting for several years. I know that is has not been polished or waxed in 7 or 8 years. It has also seen a lot of automatic car washes and bad hand washes.

I have a PC 7424 and a Makita 9227.

I have a Schlegel #1 wool pad for the rotary as well as a 3M gray(black) polishing foam waffle pad and Meg`s W8000 yellow pad. I have 6.5" LC CCS pads in orange, white, and blue, and standard LC 5.5" pads in orange, white, and black.

I`m looking for suggestions on products, speed, and technique for removing/reducing these swirls and defects.

What polishes do you have? Looks like the Makita may be your best tool for attacking that marring.

Beautiful car BTW.

What compounds and polishes do you currently have?

I would definitely recommend M105, M83, Menzena Power Finish and Ultrafina.

I`ve been wanting to get some M105 and M80, but haven`t come across it locally. I wanted to see what others recommend before placing an order to see if there is anything else I should pick up.

There is a local shop that carries a lot of 3M products and I know they have the Ultrafina. Another shop carries some of the 1Z line.

Before you place an order try M83 with wool then M83 on orange. Pinnacle Finishing polish on white and see how that does.

If you can get 3M locally definitely pick up Ultrafina and 3M Finesse-It II Machine Polish

looks like a job for m105. I have a 560sel in the back of the shop that i have been messing with and it has paint that is hard as a rock. Definitely a rotary wool m105, then maybe meg`s 83 or 106ff on orange or the meg`s yellow. See how it looks and then maybe a finish with ultrafina or other. Please do a C&B or B&A on this one, I think this car is beautiful now, i just can`t wait to see it fully detailed.

Upland. I`ve been to the Covina Super Autobacs and while they carry more Meguiars Professional line than any one else locally, they didn`t have M105 or M95. That was a couple weeks ago. I`ve been meaning to go back to get some glass cleaner and a few other things.
