I`ve been getting holograms when finishing with 106ff and a white LC CCS pad. Should I get a black or a blue pad? Can I use it with 106ff or do I need to buy something else?

I`ve seen people who 106ff with a black pad to burnish the paint so you may want to try that if you have the pads available. I don`t blue pad will do anything...

What car are you working on? I am assuming something like infiniti.

Thanks for the quick response. I`m mostly working a 07 911 and an 07 MB Gl450

I can see the 911 being soft...

But the MB? Check inside the the door like where the paint code is; if there is a "C" before the paint code, then that car has Ceramic Clearcoat which is going to much harder than that 911. With that being side, you MAY have to use maybe a white pad for the MB since it`s going to be harder to correct. But if you get the black pads for the 911, you can always try to use it on the MB to see if it help.

Hope all goes good!:D

You might want to try 3M`s Ultrafina (although they now call it Ultra Fine Machine Polish or something like that, part number is 06068 if I remember right) and Ultrafina blue waffle pad for finishing. Does a great job removing light holograms without making any of its own assuming you follow the directions on how to use it.

I`m assuming you are using a rotary and we are talking about LC pads. I use both pads with 106FA (and previously 106FF) and finish hologram free on soft or hard paint. On hard paint a white pad will do a pretty good job but to get that extra refinement you need the black pad. On soft paint you can use either the black or the blue. After you have broken the polish down dial back to about 900 rpm`s with fairly slow passes and Bob`s your uncle.

I also finish up 106ff with a black pad, so far it`s working really well!
