Does it matter what kind of water that is used, when mixing, should it be distilled?

Distilled water is best.

Otherwise you can have contaminants, debris, and other minerals than *could* cause marring; plus with time regular tap water can grow bacteria in the bottle.

Just grab ya a gallon of distilled water; its cheap and easy.

Huh? Distilled water will grow things faster than tap water because distilled water has no chlorine in it.

But to the OP`s question, I generally use distilled water since as said, it`s cheap, and you get away from any possible mineral spotting.

Distilled water also does not have the same bacteria/bacterium in it as reg. tap water and thus doesn`t need the large dose of chlorine.

Thats just from my observations of something I had done in the past with each type of water; the tap had fungal growth first; fwiw; ymmv.
