Planning on ordering a few things here shortly and wanted a few opinions

polishing

firstly is a meguiars g110 da

sampler of megs #83

sampler of megs #80

something heavier? (optimum compound, or megs 105?)

as for pads, im leaning towards lcc although i dont much care for the whole ccs ones

2 orange 6.5in using either the 83 or

2 white 6.5in for 80 or optimum polish

1 or 2 red 5.5 or 6.5 (doesnt matter) finishing for liquid sealants/waxes etc

possibly 1 or 2 4 in pads for heavier correction. Will the g110 need a different backing plate for theses?

How do people like the megs pads vs lcc (or any other pads)? Im only listing the lcc ones because those are all ive used so far.

as for other products

shampoo plus sampler

apc sampler

all season dressing sampler(i like the samples idea as you might notice):2thumbs:

pad suggestions, polish suggestions etc -tia

def get some smaller pads. the 6.5in pads are to big to use on a DA. makes the machine hard to work with, and you get better correction power with a smaller pad. i find that the 5.5in pads are much easier to work with.

yes you will need a different backing plate for the 4in pads.

sweetlou- *IF* (and it`s a mighty big "if" IMO) those large pads will work OK then that`s a pretty good looking kit. I dunno...I always buy my pads a la cart, choosing the right number of each type for what I`m gonna do. Heh heh, I probably pay through the nose doing it that way :o

And yeah, I`d get some M105 or some 1Z Pasta Intensiv...most people are surprised how aggressive they need to be to make significant progress.

i think the 5.5 is a good compromise. if need be, ill run and pick up some 4in ones but im in no hurry. Ive used the 6.5 red, which works fine but soaks up a lot of product, and the curved pads as well, which i really dont care for. The smallest megs are 6in, and the only other smaller ones ive seen are the edge wave which are about 20$ for a 4 in pad. I think that kit has everything i need, including the purple foamed wool. I really like all the sample sizes from that one site so ill probably pick up some 105 as well to use on the purple foamed wool.

You might do fine with that kit, but if you do need 4" pads, check out: Top of the Line Auto Detailing Supplies (http://www.topoftheline.com/index.html) and/or Cyclo Toolmakers (http://www.cyclotoolmakers.com/)
