A friend has a `96 or `97 (I can`t remember) VW Golf and the black rubber bump strip on the driver`s door is coming loose. It looks like it`s attached with double-sided adhesive, probably the same stuff badges are stuck on with, I assume? Anyone have a recommendation of the best thing to use to re-attach it?

Thanks!

You can use goop/shoe goo. If you feel you must have the highest quality hurricane proof adhesive tape, 3M VHB tape is the strongest and probably way too expensive.

For tape, Pepboys has smaller 3M packs:

3M Ultra Pro (may just need this instead):

Thanks for the quick replies, I`ll have to see what I can find locally, but now I`ve got an idea of what to look for.

Mods, can you move this to the Exterior forum?

Thanks!

Any auto store has "molding tapes". To make it stick better, heat the door and the adhesive using heat gun or hairdryer, before sticking it.
