So I was going through walmart looking for bug killer when I passed through the lawn and garden section and this little beauty caught my eye.

Ace - Ace Tree: Lawn & Garden: Plant & Lawn Care: Spreaders, Sweepers, Sprayers: Hose End Sprayers: Ortho® Dial-N-Spray® Hose-End Sprayer (0836510) (http://www.acehardware.com/sm-ortho-dial-n-spray-hose-end-sprayer-ortho-dial-n--pi-1279144.html)

It was only $9 so I decided to buy it and try it. The container can hold up to 32 ounces of car wash, which is a really good amount since you`ll be mixing in such a small ratio. I filled it with a 50/50 ratio of thick shampoo and water (TW Ice since I got it cheap) It has variable mixing ratios from 1 teaspoon all the way up to 8 ounces per gallon. Nozzle is rotatable and makes a convenient fan shaped spray, and you can take it off and make a perfect stream. I found that 1 tablespoon (a half ounce) per gallon ratio worked really well, I tried the 8 ounce setting and it was just ridiculously soapy and I ran out of soap in about a minute. But this makes washing really convenient and is cheaper than buying two buckets. Plus letting your car always soak in soapy water while you scrub away means by the time you`re rinsing everything really comes off. And you don`t risk soap drying inconveniently on your car, just keep spraying when you notice the foam running down the panel and drying.

My next project with this is to make an aerator attachment so that when it sprays it truly makes a blanket of foam, it should be easy enough, just a brass tube with pressed in cutouts that slips over the nozzle.

Here it is at work.

Wow i have the same one and i like to say set it at 4-6oz it will use less soap and get the same amount of suds that is what i realized. I usually use about 4-5 oz of Meguairs wash and wax and fill it up about half way. nice suds but i wish it had more. That usually gets me about 1.5 sedan sized cars.

I use it as a pre soak and a spray and wash at the same time. Pretty good for the money huh? What i also add was a water on and off valve so while i`m change the ortho spary i don`t have running water all over.

I really like this one:

as you say these are great for pre soaking and wash and spray. Where they really make a difference is using them to spray the area that I wash, that way I apply a wash mitt to a lubricated panel and makes a huge step towards a non marring wash technique. When combined with shut off valve, quick connects and fireman`s nozzle the process moves along quickly.
