Ok since I didn`t see there wasn`t any Engine detail DIY. I thought I should make one for the people of G35driver.com

Items you need

Brush: spoke, wheel and paint

Car soap, APC and a water hose (regular pressure)

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/jesselyons2002/G35/DSC_2993.jpg

Masking tape and something to cover a big area

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/jesselyons2002/G35/DSC_3001.jpg

An AIO (All in one polish), Paint cleaner or Cleaner wax

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/jesselyons2002/G35/DSC_2996.jpg

And the last products you need are a trim dressing, 2 gal bucket, Towel(Mf, Terry cloth, Cotton ) engine dressing and either a leaf blower, Air compressor or vacuums blower

First thing you want to do it mask the areas where you don`t want APC or any of the engine dressing to get on outside the engine bay.

Next(Optional) remove the Air induct inlet and Engine cover and cover the air induct inlet hole with foil and stuff alot of rags into the power duct. If you have a aftermarket intake system. Its your choice if you want to remove it or leave it. If you take it off the aftermarket intake system. Stuff some Rags or towels into the throttle bodie. Or cover the filter with a foil, garbage bag or saran wrap. Also don`t forget to cover anything else like the alternator, connectors, and anything else your worry about.

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j293/jesselyons2002/G35/DSC_3016.jpg

Now rinse everything down to get rid of some of the dirt and grime, but don`t forget to stay away from things you don`t want that much water hitting.

Get you APC (FS for Really dirty engines 4:1 to 10:1 for light cleaning) and spray everything down. Including the hood.

Get the Spoke brush and start cleaning areas where you can`t get between. Like behind the engine bay, In between harness, In front of the engine bay and near the intake system and near the throttle bodie.

After you get all the areas with the spoke brush now its time to clean most of other areas that you can get with the wheel brush. Starting with the hood and moving onto the engine bay. Also don`t forget the engine cover and air induct inlet if you took it off.

And the last thing for cleaning is to use the paint brush to get into those little tiny areas you couldn`t get with the wheel brush or spoke brush.

Since all the cleaning is done. Now its time to dry. Use anything from a air compressor, Blower attachment from vacuum or leaf blower. This is going to get all the water out of areas you can`t get with a towel and dry the engine bay and hood quicker.

Since all the areas were blown out to get excess water out. Get the towel of choice to dry the rest of the engine bay and hood.

Since everything was clean and dry. I still saw little marks on the upper intake plenum. So I got out the coarse steel wool and some aluminum polish and polish the spots and the rest of the intake plenum with it. Note: don`t use coarse steel wool on a polish upper intake plenum or even anything underneath the hood that is chrome, polished aluminum or anodized metals.

Now get you engine dressing and spray it on every plastic piece, hose and harness (Some dressing can be sprayed onto the paint in the engine bay and hood and also some of the engine`s metals).

After you spray the bay with the engine dressing. Now its time to get the AIO, Cleaner wax or paint cleaner (paint cleaner it self might need a sealant or wax after application but the sealant or wax has to restand heat) and clean all the painted areas with the cleaner or choice with a mf or terry applicator.

Close the hood and start the engine. Let it sit for 20 mins to let the rest of the engine and any other water to evaporate and to dry the engine dressing on to everything in the engine bay. This is also going to make it easier to wipe the excess engine dressing. After you wipe the engine bay. Remove all the masking tape and paper.

Once your done. Wash the car. Just in case you got any APC, Trim dressing, Cleaner or Engine dressing on the rest of the car.

Great job on the car, What i found easier is if you warm up the engine a little bit first so you can break down the grease enzymes and then spray the apc. Also, pressure washer does water, if you have a heated pressure washer that`s even better.

CD2 is on sale right at kragens, 2 for 8 dollars.
