If you`re considering going pro, be prepared for details like these. If 100,000 details were done in the US last year, about 20% of them looked like this. This is the kind of detail work that the average, non car-enthusiast pays for.

These pictures illustrate the value of soaking floor mats in degreaser, pressure washing them on flat ground, and then hanging them from firm mat clamps. Don`t even bother vacuuming them prior to pressure washing--the pressure washer will push out all loose debris, dog hair, etc. Hang for 2 hours, then vacuum the very lower edge dry.

The mats in the after picture are completely dry. We dusted them with a bit of black SEM aerosol carpet dye and they came out great.

You can buy the hanging clips here:

Beautiful work. How long did it take to dye the carpets? Also, how long `til they are dry (i.e. `til the client can step on them)?

Carpet dye took 60 seconds...just mist the dye over the parts that need it. The client can step on them within 5 minutes.

You can hang mats for 90 minutes, then vacuum off the lower lip that remains wet and it`s ready for the client to step on. This varies by temperature. In the winter, you will need to hang the mats, vacuum off the lip, then place them in your work vehicle with the heater on high (pointed to the floor) for maybe 20 minutes. Obviously, pressure wash the mats early in the detail to ensure they`re ready for the customer on completion.

Good god! It went from faded and gross to black again! (mainly talking about the center console) The APC did that? Or did you add dye too?
