This is my first attempt at machine polishing.

Makita bo6040

- Bug and tar cleaner (twice)

- Clay bar (this took off more tar than the B&T remover)

- orange Pad w/Menz IP

- white pad w/Menz FPII

- Collinite 845

I was sprayed by a runaway tar truck, and decided an abused test spot would be wise for my first shot at it (the sideview mirror). Keep in mind the subaru has over 190k of jersey highway commuting.

Can it get better with some more work? It looks real pitted up close, but I didnt want to over do it on my first shot on the machine.

After the first bug and tar remover attempt.

After all was said and done. You can see the condition of the paint is not so hot. The front is pretty abused, the sides are in a lot nicebetter condition.

Good job, next time you could use just plain old kerosene to remove the tar. I dont think polishing will get those pit marks out. Maybe wet sanding, but they look pretty deep.
