The counterweight for Porter Cable that I have is for 5" pads. Some of my pads are 6" but my Backing Plates are 5`` D.A. Hook & Loop Flexible . Do I have to buy and counterweight for 6"?

I find that the counterweights do barely anything for me. I swapped to a 6" one from a 5" when I first got it and I`m still using it right now, even when I use my 4" pads :)

there isn`t any noticable differences in counterweights, and how the PC performs (there was an old thread about this on MOL). use what you have...

+1 on useless counter weights....I don`t notice one bit of difference. Save your $$ for product.

I, OTOH, find the larger counterweight noticeably better (less vibration, etc.), so it was worth the few bucks to change my older PC over to it. Before changing the weight, the difference was so pronounced that I could tell my two (otherwise identical) PCs apart by how they felt.

I too use the 6" counterweights with all sizes of pads, even the little LC 3.5" PFW. Note that the weights are designed around the use of a single sheet of sandpaper, and any size foam pad, wet with product, will weigh more than a little sheet of sandpaper.
