Hey guys,

Soon I will try to restore the oxidized paint on my buddy`s corrado. I did a little test on his hood since he won`t be using it anyways. The paint is single stage red and as you can see it is oxidized. The process was as follows:

- two passes with IP on rotary and orange pad

- one pass with 360 on PC and white pad

- one coat of pinnacle souveran wax applied by hand

I don`t have much experience with single stage paints, so I was wondering if you guys can give me some input on this. I personally think it looks great but maybe I can still improve on it. Here are a few photos...

Paint still looks a little hazy, that would be your choice if you wanted more of a shine. If so, id say go slower with the pc and orange pad and see what that does for your liking. Either way its still looks better than what it did.

Do you have FPII as well? That will work better than the XMT360.

F.Y.I. SS paints respond very well to Meg`s polishes with there "trade secret oils"

and oil based glazes like RMG

Maybe try to add a last step with black pad and 085rd/fpII or ultrafina,

if you don`t want to add another step, just go from orange (or green) to white or black with 085 rd/fpII/ultrafina

Can`t believe nobody has asked this yet...... what was your exact process?? rpms? jeweling? etc...

How many rpms did you polish in the IP with and how fast were you moving the rotary also??

I would start by spreading it around at 600rpms then kicking it up to around 1500rpms and work it in slowly. After the polish starts to look more clear, turn it down to like 900-1000rpms. That should leave it nice and clear.

Try using the IP on the rotary with a white pad instead of orange with the above process.

SS paint should be polished nearly the same as you would clear coated paint.

rpms were just as you said, except that I worked it in at around 1700rpm if I remember correctly. You think the white pad instead of orange will be able to clean up all this oxidiation?
