More efficient vacuuming

I`ve learned lots from this forum and would like to share a tip I picked up elsewhere - when vacuuming carpet/upholstery using a shop vac remove the filter (more HP) then fill the vac`s tank about 1/3 full w/ water. This will bypass the use of a pleated filter ensuring a better filtering system, pet hairs and other air borne particles won`t suffocate the paper but will be trapped in the water.

I`ve tried that with my 12 gallon vac. Removed the filter but i think i only filled it about 1/4 or 1/5 of the way. The finer dust particles just came in and right back out of the exhaust. I`ll have to try filling with more water next time.

Keep the foam filter on and make sure it is wet.
