I have brand new OEM black carpet, but before I install it, should I spray something on it to protect it? My main worry, since it`s black, is dirt. Drinks aren`t allowed in my car so nothing will be spilled (although you never can be too sure). Any product advice guys?

303 fabric or 3M scotchgaurd.

I`ve had mixed results with both, but overall they help slightly. IME, they need to be reapplied at least every couple months to keep up the protection.

It`s not a bad idea to protect it, but because it`s black (and people won`t be drinking in it) it probably won`t make any difference. You`d be best to treat the floor mats if anything.

I`d get all weather mats. That is the way to go.

i thought about putting some clear mats over my floor mats. Any suggestions on a name brand? I`d like to have something as clear as possible.

Don`t take the labels off the clear mats until you see them in the car. A buddy of mine got some OTC clear mats for his Explorer. When the light hits them in the floorboard they GLOW. Looks like they are glow in the dark or have those florescent tubes I used to see under boy racer cars out cruising. Yet when you look at the mats at another angle they are perfectly clear.

My buddy likes them, but his wife hates them. He is winning so far since it is his work vehicle...
