Had a little bit of free time today and boredom quickly set in. I had access to two dirty wheels that needed a little bit of cleaning and decided I would try a quick test. As mentioned this was a quick test, that said, this isn`t meant to be scientific and is probably more for my entertainment then others.

I recently picked up some S100 wheel gel after hearing that it is the exact product as P21s wheel gel which is a rather popular product. I`m on the quest to reduce the amount of products on my shelf so I wanted to see how the gel would do against my APC, which I have tons of and is extremely cost efficient.

To the test, I apologize ahead of time for the camera phone pictures.

Both were sprayed on and left to dwell for approximately 10 minutes. Both wheels were then *scrubbed* with a Meguiars brush. The brush is extremely soft and not much elbow grease was used. This was a quick test of the products not my ability to scrub.

The wheel gel was superior in that it clung to vertical and upside surfaces very wheel as opposed to running off as the APC did, but did this matter in only a 10 minute dwell time?

Both had very similar results, only having difficulties with a few tough spots which appear to be brake dust but are also surrounded in a slightly green color...sap? There are obvious areas that will require more attention then the quick swipe of the brush. I wish I had a second equally soiled set to set how much stuff was able to be removed with just the brush and water.

At this point I see no real difference between the products cleaning abilities. If I could do the test again, I would certaintly allow the products to dwell for a longer time, and may return to the trouble spots on the wheels to do so. I feel that the ability of the gel to cling to the non horizontal surfaces should result in a better cleaning ability for extended dwell times.

Has anyone tried Megs Super Degreaser on wheels? How about a bug/tar remover...wonder how these products would handle brake dust.
