I used steel wool and and 1Z chrome polish on my chrome rims. I had some rust looking spots on the rims. A few had suggested this would be a good combo for getting tough spots off chrome. I only this on one section of my rims but it turned it almost yellow. It doesn`t really look shiny any more there is more of a yellowish tint to it. What happened? It didn`t get rid of the spots either. What can I do to get rid of this yellowish tint.

Is there anything you can do if it is the nickel? I didn`t scrub for very long and like I mentioned it didn`t get rid of the spots.

p.s. like I mentioned in one of the countless threads. The wheels are probably low quality, and have a poorly done chrome job. Your chrome is wearing thru and you are getting rust spots from the steel. The yellow is the underlying layers showing thru.

After 8 threads; dang man, just buy new wheels or go have them stripped and powdercoated for cheap.

You must have used some heavy steel wool for a long time to remove the chrome? I guess you kept scrubbing as long as the spot were still there right? If so, there`s no hope.

Yellow is probably rust. Maybe from steel beneath and maybe from the wool. I`d try once more with the chrome polish and a rag. If that doesn`t take off the yellow, I`d start looking for refinishing or getting new wheels.
