View Full Version : 2 Vintage Ferraris = 1 Million+ in Value

These were both detailed and fully polished for the potential selling of them which to my knowledge have both been sold now. They both sold for nearly double what I figured they were worth totalling a value of over 1 Million dollars together.
Both of these Vintage Ferrari`s belong to the same owner and the first one I did a write up on several months ago. Here`s the link to the origional write up, there`s probably no pics, but at least still has the processes and such....

Now that I`ve done the his next F car I thought I`d post up with both in the same thread.
First I`ll post up some pics of the first one I did. It`s a 1961 Ferrari 250GT Cabriolet that sold for over $600K after I detailed it.:2thumbs:
The second one is similar, it`s a 1960 Ferrari 250GT Coupe that sold for nearly $400K after I detailed it.:D
Here`s a few pics of the 61 model.
The basic process was wash, clay, #0000 on chrome and chrome polish as well as aluminum polished the rims, fully detail the engine bay with 303 and recondition the interior as well as some wetsanding and polishing with Menz IP and sealing with ZAIO before shipment to CA. (that`s the very short version)

Next up will be the 60 model. I only spent 10 hours in it since the interior and rims were beyond my reach so my main focus was the paint and engine bay.

The biggest difference I noticed about these two was the scoop on the hood and one`s a Cabriolet and one`s a Coupe. They both have the same V12 engines even though the 60 model has differently mounted oil filters, and the interiors were the same as well as the rims.
The color on this one is a sort of olive grey color, but looks nice I think.
Basically the same process as on the first full engine detail, interior touched up, wiped down with 303 and vacuumed, rotary with white pad and Menz SIP and finished down with Zaino ZAIO. The rims were beyond my reach as they were heavily rusted and needed to be restored as well as the interior was just too faded and cracking for me to safely have a go at it.
The owner is big on keeping everything origional so I went over it all very cautiously.
Some of these shots are in his garage where I did all the work and there rest of the pics are at the Ferrari shop after it`s pre sale inspection since I couldn`t get outside shots at his house as he had to leave.

Only took 1-2 passes with the white pad and Menz SIP to correct it to a 90-95%. Total time was like 10-11 hours between the engine and the paint.

Yup, that red one is the one that was sold and the new owner turned around, painted it black and resold it for way more......I would think repainting it other then the origional color would have diminished the value, but I guess there was someone out there who really wanted a black one.

No, didn`t have time as well as I think they are well beyond Leatherique`s abilities. They really need to be redipped anyways.
The main focus on this car was the engine bay and paint.
