View Full Version : Zaino after ONR?

I have just ordered some ONR and have a question. Everyone claims it leaves a slick finish after washing. What do I need to do in this scenario to ensure proper bonding for another coat of Zaino (Z-CS, Z5, or Z2)? Does this work OK to come right on top of the ONR washed finish or from your experience does the finish need to be wiped down first and if so with what? (Z6?)

Thanks guys!

I use this combo all the time then a Z6 wipedown with no problems. I also started adding a capfull of Z7 to my ONR.

I use Z-CS right after I dry up ONR and I think it`s a great combo.

When I want to apply Z-2 or Z-5 I use Z-7 to get rid of all the oils/dirt so the polish will bond properly. That`s just me.

Do you still get a slick finish since adding some Z-7?

I would think that adding Z7 without properly rinsing it off would leave some residue?

Always rinse Z7. I`d do a Z6 wipedown prior to any Z product for best bonding.

Well that`s why I don`t get adding Z7 to ONR. There`s no chance to rinse it.

I`ve gone straight from ONR to Z5 and/or Z8 with no issues.

When I was first trying this I added too much and yes there was a little residue. Now I add just enough with no problems and the finish stays slick. I always do a Z6 wipe down anyway.

Yes, I also tried using Z8 as a NR and it worked really good. But that`s like bringing

a 357 to a knife fight. This weekend I am going to try adding Z6 to ONR and see how that works out or maybe try it alone as a NR.

I`ve tried Z-8 after ONR, and wow... the finish makes it much slicker.

What are you guys trying to achieve by mixing Z6,7,8 in the ONR?

Did you observe the beading charactaristics after the Zaino cured? Sure Zaino will stick to anything but if it isn`t beading small round beads then it isn`t working at it`s maximum. I`ve seen pictures of Zaino over other products and the beading starts out slightly out of round. Granted, Z8 looks great over just about anything. I tried it over some wax a couple weeks ago. For Z8 water it down a bit and just use it more often

Beads just fine. I used ONR/Z5/Z8 on a customer`s car for about 6 months (applying more Z5/Z8 every two months) and the beading was very tight, based on what the owner mentioned to me and my own observations one day when it was sitting outside in the rain while I was detailing his newest car, a Z06.

If I use Optimum or Meguiars polishes, I do a Z6 wipe down first.

I will probably just do a Z6 wipe as well. Thanks!
