BMW 760Li - Most Expensive Bimmer I`ve Done

The dealer got this luxury cruiser in Black Metallic with 30,000 miles. It`s the top-of-the-line 760Li V12 luxury car. He said they are approx. $130/k new.



I was fortunate that the original owner had the car clear bra`d since new. I removed it per the dealer`s instructions as it was yellowing and pretty swirled up from someone using a rotary on it. BUT, underneath was a pure virgin front end! The bumper, headlight lenses, and mirror housings had zero pitting, scratching, or chips...joy o` joy.



The rest of the car had the usual swirls and light scratches from use, so I used System One Polish as a start-to-finish product. I started with wool (the 3M wool compound pad produced the best results) and continued with a foam finish pad (again, used the 3M dark gray glazing pad).



For extra "uumph", I applied 3M Dark Glaze and tomorrow will apply (per dealer`s instructions) 3M Ultrafina. Don`t know what wax I`ll use, but I`m leaning towards a coat of Pinnacle Souveran for that final brilliance.



It`s definitely a "looker"....and waaaaaaay out of my price range LOL.

Awesome work! :cool: Must have been nice with that clean front end. My parent`s best friends have one in the exact same color and I detail it at their summer home when I visit. They live in NY City and the front and rear bumpers are destroyed. Dents and paint chips galore. Its criminal. I topped mine off with IW 845 after a 2 step polish job. I like all the gold flake it has in the paint.



That car is a BEAST. I drove it all around the summer town they live in grinning from ear to ear. The gauges and features are fairly confusing to operate at first. I know my parent`s friends find it confusing to operate so they keep it in NY City where they live and their personal driver uses it to chauffeur them around. They had switched from Mercedes and regretted it. They are trading it and will go back.



That shop you work in is awesome. I love the lighting arrangement and of course the lift :bow

EDIT: Why did you use the glaze knowing you were going to apply the Ultrafina? Or is the Ultrafina finer than the glaze and will further enhance the "oomph" factor?

The 3M Dark Glaze is more of a fine polish and the Ultrafina is more of a swirl eliminator for owners. Plus, it`s his instructions and knowledge of 25+ year`s of detailing BMW`s, so black cars get this extra treatment. While at first I poo-poo`d this idea, we recently had a trade-in of a 745 that he did 4 years ago and the finish was fantastic. Just a quick one-step brought it back to super shape...tough to argue on that one.



Having zero chips, scratched headlights and mirror housings made life easier that`s for sure. Probably saved 2+ hours of normal work on these areas alone.



68 camaro: that lift is a Snap-On product. He`s had it for several years and it is a joy to use.

My dad used to have one of these. Everything about it was amazing but it would be in for work half the time. Beautiful work on a beautiful car!
