I just finished a marathon detail that just about killed me. I take it back, that was my wife.

My process was:

2 passes OHC on Orange LC

1 pass OP on White LC

1 pass OPS on Black LC

I`m not a professional and fairly new (first time) using a rotary so this process took forever. I`d say the paintwork alone took me 10 hours and there were still RIDS galore.

So my question is, with a single purchase of either a more aggressive pad or more aggressive polish, which would you recommend? Please be specific.

Foamed purple wool. I`m not sure how it works with OHC but it is a nice boost over the orange. I`d say its worth a go. There are a lot of heavy cutting polishes out there and am not experienced with a lot of them so someone can chime in on that.

Wool cutting pad.

Foamed wool is ok but twisted wool is better cut wise.

If you had to do two passes with an orange pad and OHC and it struggled to remove the rids then you`ll have to step up. From the start Meguiars M105 with a twisted wool would have been great, however as you`ve already removed a lot of defects i`d probably use M105 on just the RIDS.

M95 or 3m 3000 RC on a on an orange or yellow LC pad. I`ve removed defects with the 3m on a PC that I couldn`t touch with OHC. Also consider the smaller 4 inch or 5 inch pads. They cut better.
