Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone knew how hard or soft Honda`s paint is. I`m talking specifically 2008 model year. I`d like to know what to expect going in. Thanks.

I think it differs between models but the general consesus is honda paint is soft. I have no experience with

08 civic in your sig. however 07 accord and 08 crv both black have hazing after zpc with a polishing

pad which you need to follow up with a finishing pad.

It`s the only paint I`ve come accross yet that was soo soft I couldn`t get PO106FF to finish out well on it. Switched to FPII on a grey pad with a PC.

greaaaat....so what cutting product should I use? I have SSR 1, 2.5, CG 1500, SIP, DACP and a wide assortment of pads to choose from.

Kinda depends on what the shape is of the paint to start. Start with the least aggressive polish you have on a finishing polish pad. I think you`ll be suprised at how much you can get out with that combination.

Honda paint in general is very soft and sticky once you crank a rotary up past 1200 rpm

Thus anyone polishing these should not use ceramiclear polishes as the abrasives are too sharp

Also add 10ml or more of parrafin oil to the polish so that the clear doesn`t make the polish dry up real fast (stops hopping)

Honda and Acura clears are about as soft as warm butter. Trust me, if I look at my car, it swirls.

I have 2006 CR-V in Mettalic Red. It is really soft and has been a pain for me so far.

Keep in mind that some Hondas have single stage paint.

Can`t comment on the 08`s yet, but 07`s and older do. I`ve personally seen white Accords with SS and the dealer told me that blacks can be too. I think the big this is to determine whether or not the vehicle was produced in the US or overseas. The Japanese are cutting corners with VOC which means they can build cars cheaper.
