Alight gang

Filling everything up in 24oz bottles



So here goes

1:10 = 2oz of product

1:20 = 1 oz of product

1:34= .75 o / 22.5 ml of product





6 oz to 1 gallon

For 24 ounces, it would be 34 ml of product in a 24 oz container



1 oz to 2 gallon

For 24 ounces, it would be 5.4ml of product in a 24 oz container



Can anyone just do a double-check with my #`s and let me know oif I`m right.....

1:20 = 1.2 oz

Just go to your local Sam`s Club and buy a 6 pack of sprayer bottles for less than $6. Even if you decide not to use the sprayers (they aren`t the best), you have 6 32 oz bottles with a dilution scale built into the side of every bottle. No need to sit there and do math.

take your dilution ratios and then add the numbers together then divide by the container size. For example. with a 4:1 (5) product mixed in a gallon (128oz) jug just divide 128 by 5 to find out how much product you need to add. If you divide 128 by 5 you get 25.6 oz of product added to 102.4 oz water (128ox (container size) - 25.6oz (product) = 102.4oz water). It is very easy to apply.



Another example: if you mix something 6:1 (7) in a 32oz container divide 32 by 7. You get 32 divided by 7 = approx 4.6 oz of product added to 27.4oz of water.

The larger dilute ratios was not the issue.

It was the smaller 1:40, 1:30, figuring out the rate into a 24 oz bottle and then converting it into ml as for measuring purposes..........the only way I was going to be able to measure out the correct ratios for a 24 oz bottle.





I prefer the smaller bottles as opposed to the 32`s. However, I am keeping 32oz for the TLC for carpet extraction. It`s almost perfect in that on a whole interior, I use almost if not all of the 32oz perfectly as a TLC prespray prior to extraction.

It works for the smaller durations also. Using your upper examples with a 24 oz container.



1:40 (41)

24/41 = approx .6 amount of product (or a little over 1/2 oz) to 23.4 oz water.



1:30 (31)

24/31 = approx .8 amount of product to 23.2 oz water.

You can use the conversion 1 oz. = 30ml to go from ounces to ml or cc (same thing)

Using howareb`s formula .6 oz = .6 oz. X 30ml = 18ml. for a 1:40 solution in a 24 oz. bottle and 0.8 oz = 0.8 oz X 30 ml = 24 ml for a 1:30 solution in a 24 oz. bottle.



If you don`t have a large syringe knowing that 1 tablespoon = 15 ml and 1 teaspoon = 5ml allows you to get pretty close without using a syringe.



Thus 1:40 could be done with 1 tablespoon and 1/2 teaspoon (close enough) and 1:30 would be 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons (close enough).

While I agree that using the dilution ratio bottles help, knowing the calculation saves you from being bound to the size of the container. It also helps with very concentrated items with ratios like 30:1 and 40:1. It never hurts to know how the dilituions are arrived at IMO.

Typically yes this is easier but most of these bottles only go down to a ration of 10:1. Chefwong, the original poster, needs to make dilutions as high as 30:1 and 40:1 therefore these bottles don`t help.

Don`t laugh guys....but I ordered a set of graduated cylinders like they use in the labs.

It`s all in the details guys...and I`m probably easier on the eye and hands with the cylinders than monkeying around with a spoon.

I would not laugh. That sounds like a great idea.
