my buddy has this 04 silverado SS that has rock hard clear. i think it`s the same as vette clear. i`ve tried ssr2.5 on 5.5" low profile orange pad via PC, but nothing happened. he his this 3m liquid rubbing compound he wants to use, but i say no. i think all it will do is swirl by hand or PC. what do you guys think we should do?

If you want to stick with SSR2.5 I recommend going with a yellow pad (assuming you`re using LC). Otherwise, try the rubbing compound on one spot and see what happens. You could also step up to SSR3. Bottom line - if you want to attack those swirls you`re going to end up doing a step-down round of polishing anyway.

FWIW the majority of vehicles I detail are GM trucks. The first time I see them, SSR2.5/orange isn`t strong enough. My go-to has become Menzerna SIP with either orange or yellow...and in the case of nasty sections, I`ll even use PG w/ yellow.

Good luck & have fun...
