This belongs to the same guy that I did the Avalon last weekend for. This one is apparantly his wife`s daily driver as well as his duck hunting rig....so it logs a lot of time on and off the road!! The paint was pretty normal for a 6 year old vehile. Tons of swirls, tons of rock chips, not much contamination and the engine compartment was covered with muddy water (not the blues guy). Interior had some dog hair and a few stains but nothing too bad.

The worst part of the whole detail was three fold: I was suffering from a hangover from softball the night before and the temperature had changed seemingly overnight to near 90 degrees!! Both of which contributed to my memory lapse when it came to taking pics. Total brain fart when it came time for the afters. Gotta quit "celebrating" so hard after Friday night games!

Process:

Spray rims with DP Wheel Gel

Spray tires and wells w/APC

Wash w/Dawn

Polish:

Menz SIP w/yellow CCS

KAIO w.white CCS

Topped w/P21S

Glass polished w/KAIO

Headlights were wetsanded w/300unigrit and polished w/PlastX

Interior was cleaned w/APC and scrubbed w/Megs interior brush, then vacuumed

Mats and carpets were done the same way.

Engine bay was covered in Megs APC and left to sit for a while. Sprayed down with light mist of water, blown dry with leaf blower and then topped w/Megs HD.

I was suffering from a hangover from softball

That`s one thing I never had from softball but maybe I wasn`t playing right. :nixweiss :lol

SIP did a nice job of removing the swirling. How did you apply... orbital or rotary and how long did you work it?

The headlights also came out great :bigups

Good job.

Nice work, the green looks deep. :)

Yeah.......tons of paint of SUV`s!! I use a FLEX and did one very slow pass (1 inch per second) with the SIP and just a little faster with the KAIO.

It was my first time wetsanding headlights and it made MUCH faster work of them!

Thanks for the comments guys!!

Great job. What size of pads where you using with the Flex? 6.5"?

Yeah....6.5" It took a minute to get used to them as I was used to the 5.5" pads on the PC. But it seems to be going OK!

Cool. Do you find using the Flex a lot faster than a PC for paint correction and worth the price difference?

For me, (weekend detailer) I have found that it`s perfect for me. It has cut my time in half and and don`t have the vibration issues that I had with the PC.

Looks good. Engine bay needed some more work though?

I wasn`t too worried about getting all the nooks and crannys on the engine bay cuz he still hunts and it will just get all muddy again.
