First up is a 2005 red Ferrari F430. Client just purchased it about a month ago. It had wash induced marring, swirls and a few RIDS.

I rinsed off the wheels with my pressure washer and sprayed on some P21S gel. Notice that the brakes/rotors look at little larger then the average large Ferrari brakes. The client had a 15" Brembo GT kit installed front and rear as he wanted to fill the space inside of the 19" wheels better. 8)

While the P21s wheel cleaning gel dwelled on the wheels, I foamed the car with 2oz of CGCWC and 1oz of Z7 car wash. Filled the rest of the 32oz bottle with water.

I then used AM red hot APC 1:6 on the tires and wells.

I rinsed off the foam from the paint and refoamed w/ the same soap mix as above. I then did a 2 bucket wash with a sheepskin wash mitt.

Next up was cleaning the wheels/calipers with a swissvax wheel brush and various other brushes and a MF mitt. I had to roll the car fwd to get the barrel areas blocked by the massive Brembo calipers.

Everything got rinsed down again with the pressure washer.

Leaving the car wet, I then clayed the paint and glass with Z6 and a new zaino claybar. The lower doors and areas behind the wheels had some tar:

I rinsed off the car again and dried it with a pakshak WW drying towel.

I checked the thickness of the paint/clear with my Defelsko Positest DFT Combo. I was getting readings from 5.9 on the rear quarter panels to 9.2 mills on the hood. One call to the Ferrari expert confirmed that this is normal on Ferrari paint. Thanks Pepe! :)

I started polishing with a light cut blue edge wool pad and some Presta 1500 polish with a flex 3403 rotary. This removed the marring and most of the swirls, but did nothing for the RIDS.

So I stepped up to a green edge wool pad with the P1500 polish on the 3403. This removed the swirls as well but needed a few applications to get the RIDS out. So I decided to stay with that combo.

I followed with 3Ms Ultrafina and the 3M blue foam 8" pad.

Upon reviewing my pics at home, I found that most of my defect pics did not turn out.

Here is the only one that turned out decent, I hope you can see that the hood still has the defects and the right side from fender does not:

Here is a closer pic of the right front fender:

After polishing the car, I foamed it again with 3oz of Zaino Z7 carwash and the rest of my 32oz bottle filled with water. I then did a 2 bucket wash to ensure that the polishing oils where removed. I dried the car with a pakshak WW drying towel.

I then applied 3x of Zaino Z5pro with 20% Z2pro mixed in w/ 4 drops of ZFX to the paint/glass. I followed up with some Z8.

Interior:

vac

IZ cockpit premium on the non-leather surfaces

Zaino Z9/10 on all leather surfaces.

IG on glass.

Engine compartment got a wipedown.

Sorry I did not get any interior pics. :grrr

Tires got Z-16 and wheels got ZAIO.

Next up is the 2007 S65 AMG in black w/ 8k miles. The S65 has a AMG-built 5,980-cc SOHC 36-valve, biturbo V-12 that puts out 604hp and 738 ft-lbs of torque. AMG claims 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and 0-125 in 12.5 seconds in a automobile that weighs in at over 5000lbs.

Here is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syoBXsYBFvs) a utube video from Fifth Gear.

Back to the business at hand.

Since the F430 was sitting in the garage all clean, I did not want to let it sit outside while I polished out the AMG. So the sun was out and the temps looked to be in the high 70s for the day, I decided to do as much as I could outside.

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/1722/img6410ky9.jpg

I started with the interior:

Vac all carpets and trunk.

Wipedown all hard surfaces with 1Z CP.

Leather got Z9/10.

Glass got IG.

I then started on the exterior.

As with the F430 I rinsed off the wheels with my pressure washer, plenty of brake dust on these 20" wheels. I then sprayed the wheels down with P21s wheel cleaning gel.

I foamed up the car with my usual CGCWC and Z7 carwash.

Tires and wells got cleaned with AM red hot APC 1:6.

I rinsed off the paint.

I then cleaned the wheels/calipers with a swissvax wheel brush and various other brushes and a MF mitt.

I refoamed the car and washed it using the 2 bucket method and a sheepskin mitt. I then rinsed everything off.

I clayed the paint with a new Zaino claybar and some Z6 for the lube. I rinsed off the paint again and dried with a pakshak WW drying towel.

After checking the paint/clear thickness with my Defelsko Positest DFT Combo. I inspected the paint for defects and found the following swirls:

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/4/img6418tt2.jpg

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/3189/img6420xp5.jpg

I also noted some light RIDS with the brinkman that would not show up in the sun. :?

I started out with 106ff/white CCS pad and the flex 3403 at 1600 RPM. Even after working the 106 for a while on the panel, there where still some swirls and RIDS left on the ceramiclear finish.

So I tried SIP/white CCS/1700 on the flex 3403. It still was not 100% perfect.

So then I went to SIP/orange CCS at 1700. This did the trick. SIP worked pretty well in the full sun, but even on panels that where in the shade, I was getting some pad chatter.

After SIP/orange CCS, note the great finish and it appears that there are no holograms.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/5062/img6424ef1.jpg

I polished out the rest of the car with the SIP/orange CCS combo.

I did have the flex 3403 over heat (thermal shutdown) on me with the SIP/orange 7" CCS combo. The pad was really chattering alot on one of the doors. IMO the metabo would of gave out sooner. So I broke out the hitachi and finished with it.

I then followed with:

Ultrafina/3M blue 8" foam pad/Flex 3403 at 1700. I had no issues with the 3403 as the UF always runs smooth for me. I also had no issues w/ UF in the full sun. The working time stayed very constant with panels in the shade and panels in the full sun.

Foamed the car down again, this time with 3oz of Z7 in the 32oz water filled bottle. I then did a 2 bucket wash w/ sheepskim mitt to ensure all of the polishing oils where removed from the surface. Car was dried with a pakshak WW drying towel.

After wash pics:

http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3994/img6439rv9.jpg

I applied 3x of Z5pro with 20% Z2pro and 4 drops of ZFX mixed in. I followed with Z8.

Tires got Z-16, wheels and tips ZAIO after the final pics where taken.

In the end, I had a very nice sunburn. Next time I`d better think to bring the canopy. :)

I should be doing another black S65 this one being an 2008 in the next few weeks.

It sure is Daven! I was suppose to do the 08 S65 today, but the weather was not so nice. High 70s and sunny yesterday to 50s and rainy today.

Both turned out great, Bryan. Really love those S65 interior shots too. You always do such a good job on the paint, it is nice to see what you can do with the inside as well. :)

Very nicely done! I love those wheels on the Benz. Was SIP/orange CCS your final polishing step?
