Will using Simple Green on tires, wheels, and wheel wells degrease them well?

Ok thanks I will try SG then. What dilution would be safe to use on the wheels?

I use it at about a 4:1 ratio for cleaning wheels and wheel wells... works great. I`ve used it on chrome, steel, and aluminum wheels and it works just as good as Eagle One wheel/tire cleaner (good stuff), but it ends up being much cheaper.

Simple Green sometimes causes irreparable damage to certain finishes. There was a guy way back when who messed up the factory wheels of his Jetta with it (only noticed it after using Simple Green for a long time) and a few of us have had it "cloud" bare aluminum. No, I`m not saying it *will* cause problems, just that it *has* caused them for some people so proceed with caution at your own risk.

I used to use simple green, but after hearing some people having issues with it I switched to Megs APC+ and Megs Degreaser.

SG works pretty good. Just don`t let it dry on the surface you are working on. Chances are you will still need to perform some form of manual agitation to get the surface truly clean if anything other than very light soiling.

Simple Green is not a degreasor, it is a APC.



4:1 for wheels, tires, wells, Engine, really dirty pads



10:1 for cloth seats, carpet, dash, door panels, NOT LEATHER, normal cleaning of pads

True, I don`t use just simple green when I clean my wheels. I scrub the tires and wipe down the wheels with a bucket of car wash soap, then spray AG on them and let it dwell for a couple minutes before spraying it off. There is a noticeably shinier appearance to my wheels after I spray and remove the SG...

I switched to "Purple Power" from Advance Auto Parts. (In some parts of the country it`s Parts America). Less than $6 per gallon, cut 50/50 with water so you get 2 gallons for $6.



Works better for degreasing, all-purpose cleaning. And it smells better. I also use it as a pre-soak for my MF towels and PC pads before washing.

Only places I use simple green on my car would be for the wheel wells, and tires. I`m too afraid to use them on my wheels.

As stated before ... do NOT use Simple Green full strength on anything that has a finish on your cars. Very strong stuff.

I also use purple power. Cause it also cheap,biodegradable and acutallly works.
