Tried out the new OCW tonight on my car. put it on after opti seal.

frankly speaking it seems not much of an improvement over my opti seal., but yes there was a little improvement (duh).

but let me make it clear that the opti seal on its own already improved the gloss and finishing on the car.

personally I would look at the ocw as more of a protection as it includes uv, polymers and a bit of canuaba. it sure didn`t bring the gloss of the opti seal one step back. it retained the gloss factor of the opti seal .

usually a canuaba paste wax would "taint" and decrease the gloss (of a synthetic sealant) to a certain extent. the ocw supplemented and paired up well with the opti seal.

I havent tried the Instant detailer gloss enhancer yet but from what i`ve heard from others, it improves the gloss quite a considerable extent.

so yeah,

if you want protection and gloss as a foundation base, opti seal

to improve and maintain protection regularly , OCW

for gloss enhancing on the fly, OID

one thought however, i`ve done what others have done,

spray the ocw on the panels , then use one mf to spread, then another to buff.

my concern is in the 2nd step when spreading the product. with a mf , it absorbs a fair bit while spreading the product. but there`s a fair bit of rubbing and "friction" involved. i was wondering , would it be a good idea to instead of using a mf towel, use a mf applicator to "spread" the product . This will also reduce the amount being sprayed on the panels, as too much are usually abosrbed into the mf towel and wasted.

would be good to get some opinions on this matter.

Does OS need a cure time before applying OCW?

It really is a great trio of products. The Id is really stellar.

Pt91, your going to have to experiment a little. I always wait a day or so before topping a base with anything.

I always wait a day too. Just wondering if anyone does it the same day.

I always wait a day before topping Opti-Seal with OCW. It takes a day for Opti-Seal to completely cure.

The beauty of OCW is that I apply and remove just like a QD. Just spray on; spread around with a MF towel; and keep wiping until OCW flashes off.

After I applied the New OCW, I could see lots of extra depth from my silver paint.

Here are a few pics...

Different things happen on different paints and colors. On my Altima the OS mutes and deepens like a nuba and then adding OCW sharpens the reflections. On my LandCruiser, it`s exactly the opposite. When I OS it really sharpens and defines the reflections and the OCW adds slickness and depth. The altima is silver metallic and the Cruiser is JetBlack. I`d say you will get different results from just about all cars. Also, I can see differences that my wife, friends and customers can`t--just from experience I guess. Anyone else know what I`m saying?

some people apply ocw after 30 mins cure time for OS , so yeah that was what i did too.

and with most optimum products, the shine will look its best usually after 24 hours, so I will wait till then and see the result .

optimum products have been really fantastic, and many people forget just how easy it is to apply the products. with minimum effort involved, the end result is astonishing.

how many sprays do you usually use per panel , and how many applications can you get out of one bottle Chris ?

Just like the original version of OCW, it also works well removing Poli-Seal and laying down additional protection and depth. I`ve been really happy with the results so far.

Sorry I didn`t see your question sooner. Hmm.. I`m still on my first bottle cause I usually do PS+OCW but I`d say the label is pretty accurate (taking into account that you WILL use too much on your first couple uses).

I have applied OS to cover about 12 cars and my bottle is only about 1/4 gone. I use about 4 sprays on my hood (it`s a large area) and about 2 sprays per door.

sorry i wasn`t referring to the OS , but the ocw

I use 1-2 spray per panel, 2 on the hood, 2 on the roof, touchup as needed. I never bought a 17oz. bottle and I just refill my 4oz. when it gets low so I can keep it in my pocket. I haven`t been keeping up with how many I get out of it, sorry.

Do you mean that it mutes your metallic?

What affect does the new OCW have on the metallic in your paint?

I usually use 2 sprays to prime my applicator, then after that maybe a half spray per panel. I`ve done 10-15 coats of OS and the difference in the bottle is barely noticeable.

I`ve heard 15 minutes for the cure time, that`s what I usually use as a rule of thumb while layering. If I`m bored, I`ll hit the car with 3-4 coats in an hour, and IMHO the point of diminishing returns is coat 3 or so.

This picture shows it well:

See how the light is completely diffused and glowing? That effect was much more evident after the OS, but when you walked up to it-it didn`t have a high resolution reflection (maybe just typical silver?) But I noticed that after the OCW I still had the muted effect, but with added clarity.
