Hey guys! This is my first thread here. I have been searching the forum for everything with great results, but one thing that I’m confused about is what type of pads to get. Everyone talks about Lake Country pads, but there are a lot of styles. If you could tell me what pads you prefer, and on what type of machine that would clear a lot of things up.

I hate starting a new thread about this but all the other threads left me confused. Also can you tell me what type of wool pad would work well on single stage paint? I am going to practice the rotary on my black truck. It is really bad, with tons of oxidation. I already searched for which products to use, I just don’t know what pad to use.

Thanks, Shawn.

P.s. I have a Dewalt rotary, and a flex DA. So I would need pads for both.

It all depends on the person really....some like larger pads but i would say majority like the smaller ones. I feel they are more comfortable to use. I try and use the same pads for my flex and rotary (to some extent). I would go with 6.5 LC CCS pads for both machines and call it a day.

Oh, and the difference between the OEM and regular are that the OEM`s are much thinner about half the regular ones. I personally like the OEM ones but i think the regular (thicker) ones might be easier to learn with as they are more forgiving. Hope this helps!

The OEMs are pretty stiff - I`d pick up some of the 6.5" orange and white pads for both rotary and flex, a blue 3M UltraFina pad for finishing with the rotary, and one of LC`s purple foamed wool pads for cutting via the rotary (it`s quite preferable over orange for cutting).

You can use CCS 5.5" pads on both machines.

So out of the 4 I listed above, #1 is the best choice for both machines in 5.5 and 6.5? Also the purple WOOL pad is the way to go on the rotary, or is there any other brands or styles I should get?

Thanks again guys. Shawn… :)
