As you can see in the picture, the HARD brake-dust stuck between the face and the barrel is almost impossible to remove. BTW, this is a two piece wheel...which you can`t separate the face and the barrel with.

Can you recommend what tool/chemical to use on that crevice?

i have used a soft tooth brush with a little mothers aluminum polish on my forged wheels and it works excellent

I`ve already tried using my spoke-cleaning-bristle which is a lot tougher than tooth brush. It didn`t do anything.

I could be wrong but......... it looks like the coating (paint?) is gone and it is rust not brake dust

Have you tried a small wool polishing cone on a dremel with some light polish? it should clean right up.

The wheel is almost brand new and saw the road only 3 months. And i don`t think aluminum rusts like that. The lip is not coated i don`t think. The face is painted of course.

It`s hard for me to tell from the photo but do you think a Mothers PowerBall Mini might work?

Try using a small pieces of clay on top of a piece of pencil.

Go to Lowe`s, home depot or even walmart and look through the dremel bits. You`ll know it as soon as you see it. They even have small polishing sets.

If the wheel will stand up to an acid cleaner, Meg`s Wheel Brightener will just evaporate the gunk in those corners.

If it won`t, Jshillin`s onto it with the mini dremel buffs. The powerball mini might be too big to get into there.

I am going to do a BigAl3 move so that you know what a Dremel looks like (http://www.dremel.com/en-us/tools/tool-category.htm?H=188091). They work very well for jobs like this. But be careful with it also.
