I`m looking into getting a orbital buffer and these two seem to be the best for a novice. My question is which one? Is one any better/easier to use/easier to screw something up that the other?

udm is 20% more powerful, which you will need. UDM is smooter, otherwise same.

For more info, check out the UDM Sponsor section. After reading, you will probably decide for yourself.

UDM. If you do have a problem the CS is outstanding from what I hear.

Flex. I have come to the conclusion that I should have immediately gone to the Flex instead of my PC.

My first suggestion too, but people tend to bring up the $$$ difference:laugh:

Yeah it is about 2x the price but YMMV.

Better than buying the PC/UDM realizing your mistake and then STILL having to get a Flex.

Take our experience here to heart. I wish somebody had given me this advice!!!

between the two, get the UDM (more power). they both have the one year warranty, and DavidB and Lynn will take care of you if there is a problem...

Even if you get a Flex later, UDM will still be useful for small pad spot work, carpet and upholstery cleaning, final LSP application and buffing.

I have a UDM and have used a PC for a short period. The UDM doesn`t bog down like the PC. What I mean is, even without really putting on that much pressure, the PC stops rotating and just wiggles. The UDM`s extra power means you can bear down and it powers through. As a result, the UDM can break down polishes that have more cut, and IMO do correction that would just be too tiresome for me to manage with a PC.

I`m just detailing my own family`s cars, and couldn`t justify the cost of the Flex. Very happy with the UDM, and happy to support David`s business.

Motorcity, have you somehow adjusted your post count or are actually on post #666 to go with your logo?

Oh ya!! have UDM. It does the job really well for what I use it for. If it is jsut for your own cars no sense in spending the extra money for the flex. IF you plan on doing additional cars, maybe skip the UDM and go with the Flex.
