So my buddy just picked up an 86 grand national and apparently he has some minor paint touch ups.

so i have done a few in my "career" and i was wondering if anyone has any experience detailing an older paint job..............

............i`m not sure if it is the original paint, he will find out and let me know.

i guess i`m just looking for some tip / tricks. not sure if my usual arsenal is appropriate for this "classic" muscle car..

usual products, PC menzerna, klasse, clearkote, wolfgang.........................

any information would be great,

thanks in advance :)

That`s probably a single stage paint if it`s original. If you have access to Mothers Powerpolish try that.

I assume that`s original SS black, so you might try Megs 80, follow with Clearkote VM, and top with Clearkote CMW.

megs 80 or mothers power polish sound do-able to me,

is it safe to use a yellow cutting cma pad, or should i stick with the white polishing ???

I`d use orange and white pads. The yellow is only about 10% more aggressive cut wise and doesn`t finish as well. Save the yellow for heavy compounds.
