The title says it...just want to know what is the worst accident/thing you have done to a car`s paint with a PC (exclude the 4" pads)...

I don`t recall doing anything bad, but with a 4`` pad.. YES!

I left mine on top of my heated powerwasher and it melted. (extreamly busy day And I got sidetracked) wasn`t a P/C but it`s my D/A for the shop (dewalt) melted the handle right off it.

When I first started I knicked a sideview mirror with the backing plat because I was using too big of a plate. The car went on to win first place in a car show at Cobo Hall in Detroit that weekend though so it was all good. ;)

Never done any damage except with 4" pads...heh heh, too often the PC won`t even "damage the marring" unless I use a smaller pad ;)

Edit: I take that back...I did cut through the old/thin/worn factory ss on the Volvo in a few places (edges, etc.), did it with a ~5" pad back when Griot`s sold a variety of pads in that size. Gee, that was so long ago I`m surprised I remembered it at all! That was a weird situation that others probably don`t need to worry about.

I recall a detailer on here (not saying names) cutting the paint when his pad broke and the backing plate made a lot of contact with the paint and cut the paint.

I instilled a lot of little hook marks with a yellow pad and Optimum. I was sure I worked it long enough, but who knows. It took several passes to get it out.

And my first time using it I chopped up the edges of a pad pretty good when it must have caught a rough edge of trim.

Worst thing I`ve done with the PC:

Got the antenna line for XM Radio caught up in the PC counterweight and ripped it in two.

I was using a Lake Country spot buff kit and the backing plate somehow screwed off. The adapter then hit my car`s hood causing a small dent and a large chip in the paint about the size of a nickel.
