How long before stopping

I remember seeing that video posted on the forum of that guy who polished a panel of a Lotus Exige for about 2 minutes and 40 seconds. I`m wondering how he was able to polish that long. Hasn`t the polish broken down already? It also sounded like he got the rotary up to about 2k rpm. I know he was on the final polishing stages so he`s probably using a soft pad and a fine polish.



My question is this...



When do you know when it`s time to stop polishing?

When the polish turns sort of transparent and is easy to remove with a rag, it`s safe to assume it`s broken down. There isn`t really a rule of thumb as far as time because it varies by polish, ambient temp, speed, etc.
