I am detailing a 87 mustang GT for a friend that he bought new. The color is white and the trim is grey. The dealer told him not to put polish or wax on the grey trim. I don`t know why,it appears to be a painted surface. Can someone advise me on this. If someone has detailed one of these mustangs let me know what you used on this . I`m talking about the bumpers and the lower section all the way around the car.....would kaio be a good product to use to clean this area

It is painted. It it very thin, matte finish, I dont believe it was cleared at all. And at 20+ years old, be careful.

I wouldn`t polish it, but you could do a test with a sealant or wax by trying some on an inconspicuous portion of one of those rocker panels (like maybe under the edge of one of the rockers).
