Is it an unfair advantage to have black paint?

To start this thread, i want to say that I have had the detailing bug for a while (thanks to my dad, he got me into cleaning cars when i was like 7). I can remember cleaning the honeycomb wheels on his black 85 5spd Maxima with an old tooth brush. To this day, i still use a tooth brush on the fine details of wheels and have a huge affinity toward black paint. But what I wanted to say, do those who detail black paints have an unfair advantage?



(Rhetorical question, i just wanted to create a click and brag :P)



Though the pictures im posting are not of all the same cars, or from the same detail, i thought i would share some shots to back up my reasoning that black cars have an unfair advantage. The cars posted are either of a 95 Legend coupe, 95 legend 5spd sedan, or a 94 legend 6spd sedan. Also some pics are before i came to terms with trim dressing:nervous:

My process with these cars has been using mostly meg`s products. (Im afraid of change :nervous:) But anywho, the first picture was using m83 and then m80, followed by m7, then topped with m26, then finally NXT on a pc with megs 8006 and 9006 pads.



The second one was after using m9 and m7 topped with m26 all by hand.



The third picture was long ago, taken about 2 years ago, after the Meguiars 3step program topped with nxt. That was a fun weekend (85 degrees and working under a tent applying and removing by hand.) UGH!



The fourth and fifth picture was after PCing the 94 6spd with M83 and M80, topped with m7, then m26.



The sixth picture, i dont even remember, but i think that was after waxing with nxt.



Then the rest of the pictures were of a 95 5spd. I did the 3step on it about a month before those pictures were taken, and before that shoot i applied a coat of meguiars cleaner wax. and thats about it.



I was kind of scared to post my steps because I know i would be considered a fan boy now, but I am open to try other products soon. I want to get my hands on some ONR.

Fanboy? not at all... I use a lot of meg`s stuff, sonus stuff, 3M stuff, etc.

GREAT photos, especially the ones with the red barn. I`m no photo expert but I love those shots for the contrast between the old faded red paint on the building and the gleaming "new" paint job on the car. Nice composition. Well done my friend. I`m a fellow black paint lover and will own nothing but for my car.

Black is great when you can work with it. I don`t necessarily think its an unfair advantage, as other colors have abilities apart from black such as brightness, suppleness, even "coolness". Black is the deepest looking and most reflective of colors, so you should definitely use its talents.



BTW great results and I especially like the rustic barn back-drops. It makes for fantastic car scenery.
