Should I be using anything different on the Vette and fiberglass than on a regular metal body?

I am referring to the wax and or sealant. It is a new 07 and will mostly stay in the garage. No rain driving unless caught in the weather.

Should I use just a Carnuba or a sealant first then a Carnuba after a clay bar? I cuurently use Griots or P21S Carnauba wax and Klasse All in one Sealant.

Any particular recommendations would be appreciated.

I wouldn`t think so.

Even though the base material is different, its still regular paint on top!

Congrats on the new car, gotta love vettes

Besides owning a 02 coupe, I`ve detailed literally hundreds of Vettes new and old. The body is more composite these days anyways, but the primer, paint and clear are normal, other then extremely hard it`s normal.

There`s a few good sealants and waxes out there, but after years of waxing with different waxes, carnuabas and polymers, personally I`d recommend a good claying, then a few applications of Zaino Z5 and maintain it after every two bucket wash with a shot of Z8. The durability of Zaino is insane and the shine (if properly maintained) will outlast anything else I`ve tried. (not an advertisement, just promote what I believe in)

Best stuff I`ve found by far. IMO:bigups

You can use whatever products that have given you the look you desire. My last 2 C5`s (2001 C5 Coupe- Torch Red (23,000 mi) and C5Z06-Millennium Yellow (4,200mi) have both been maintained with Zaino products.

Welcome to Autopia. You didn`t say what color your vette is but as a black C6 owner, I will give you some advice. Before you focus on the topper whether it be a sealant or a wax, learn about proper washing techniques to avoid marring up your finish. Vette`s are VERY easy to marr and VERY difficult to polish so try to avoid having to correct the paint as much as possible to begin with. If your vette is black then definately buy a foam gun. This will add much the needed lubricity while washing to avoid marring.

I love Zaino but I did not like it on my vette. It magnified even slight cobwebbing and casted a silver tint to the GM black. However, I do like Zaino on my girlfriends black Mercedes. Go figure! Next I tried Clearkote RMG and Carnauba Moose Wax maintained with Quik Shine. I liked these products very much but I felt I could do better in the looks dept so I tried another combo that I like even better. I now use RMG topped with Pinnacle Souveran. This gives the best look I have found thus far so I`m sticking with it for a while.

In short, I would consider Zaino if your not super fanatical about your finish OR if you have a light color. Light colors are much more forgiving when it comes to surface imperfections. I hope this helped. If not, send me a PM. :xyxthumbs

I agree, Zaino Z5 doesn`t look nearly as good on my black C5 as Meguiar`s #21 or NXT does.

Zaino is first about DURABILITY, then secondly about looks.

Plus it helps to properly prep the car before applying Zaino to help it look it`s best.

NXT will fill and hide tons of swirls and scratchs very well as it has lots of fillers which is why it looks so good, especially on dark colors, I know cause I used it a lot in the past on my black vette. Plus you`ll need to reapply it about once a month or two.

My properly prepped and Zaino`d F150 I have a feeling would whoop up on your NXT`d Vette any day of the week.....:funnypost (all in good fun, don`t get mad, I`m a fellow Vette bretheren just messing with another Vetter)

BTW, here`s what your vette is up against, let me see your best pics....:2thumbs:

This is before the 22 rims and Cervini body package...

Fully polished and 2 coats of Z5.:chuckle:
