It gets to be MUCH thinner, and almost clear when it has broken down. It`s really something that experience with the product will teach you. As far as how much to put on the pad... I put about 6 inches on the panel, and pick it up with the pad. Before I was able to work with it like that, I would simply put an X on the pad approximately the thickness of a regular school pencil. In areas were I know I will not be able to use that much, I will use half as much.

Hope this helps!

When the polish begins to `flash` or disappear, its been broken down. You may only get it to truly break down with the heat the rotary produces.

When the polish residue goes clear and you can see through it like it`s glass.

Once you get that, you slow the machine down.

With a fresh clean pad, 4 pea sized drops per 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 ft section is usually enough

You can put a six inch line down at first but most of the time that`s too much.

After the pad is seasoned, two to three drops is enough, sometimes too much

Here you go, a few pics down Todd demo`s how to tell when sip is fully broken down.

I`m absolutely with SVR on this one. Use only very little SIP or you`ll be polishing forever waiting to break down all that product. SIP has an issue with hologramming, don`t make matters worse by using too much. Pea sized drops are the key and very few of them.

and also, when should i stop using the pad? i did my black suv yesterday and my orange foam pad turned black, i washed it with dawn, everything cameoff, expect for a few spots, but i have this little deep dent in the middle of the pad? is this pad useless?

thanks :)

absolutely not, you can use it multiple times, untill you notice severe wear and flattening.

Most will probably disagree with this but I have found that you do not have to totally break down SIP. There have been times where I put too much on and it did not fully break down and I wiped it off and the surface we swirl free.
