There are tons of threads on this and I haven`t found anything definitive to convince my either way. So I decided to email s100. Here are my email exchanges:

------------------

ME: Hi, can I use my S100 Carnauba wax on my car? Is there any difference between my S100 and P21S wax?

S100 Customer Service: Dear Sir, There are indeed chemical differences between the two formulations, but you may use them interchangeably, bikes vs. cars.

ME: Thank you. Can you please highlight the differences between the two?

S100 Customer Service: Dear Sir, We really cannot as this gets into ingredients details which are considered to be a trade secret.

ME: I completely understand not revealing any trade secrets and I wouldn`t expect you to. Frankly, listing differences in ingredients wouldn`t be any help to me as I wouldn`t understand what different chemicals do. I`m looking for differences in characteristics that make s100 more suitable for a bike and what characteristics that make p21s more suitable for a car. As I understand, there is no difference in paint used on a car versus paint used on a bike so I`m quite confused. Please enlighten me in layman`s terms without giving away any trade secrets.

S100 Customer Service: The formulas differ a bit to account for the fact that a bike`s surface is smaller than a car`s. We really cannot go much further without getting into confidential areas. From a practical standpoint, we do not think you would see a big difference if you used the products interchangeably.

In my opinion, the s100 company`s response is not overly convincing. Wax formulated for the size of the surface it`s going on to? Sounds pretty hocus-pocus to me but what do I know.

Anyways, even if there is a difference, I doubt the P21S is twice as good.

And that`s why many bought and use S100 and pocket the difference.:)

Exactly, plus you can get it locally. ;)

Update:

Here is some additional correspondence after my first post above,

--------------

ME: Sorry to beat a dead horse but can I assume that characteristics such as water-repellency, degree of shine, and longevity of protection are the same?

S100 Customer Service: doubt you would see a difference.

--------------

Reinforces my belief the two are really the same. I think it`s shameful they charge double the money for P21S.

See - according to this response, you need BOTH P21S and S100. When waxing a small car body part (fuel door) you should use S100, and when waxing a large panel (hood), you should use P21S. It all makes perfect sense now:lol

I`d be curious to hear from anyone that has used both the P21S wheel cleaner vs. the S100 wheel cleaner.

S100 wheel cleaner vs P21S wheel cleaner: only change was a greener glow from my wallet, and availability at the local HD dealer.

Is there an S100 equivalent for P21S 100% Carnauba? That would definitely be nice.

Yup. S100 carnauba, at your Harley Davidson dealer.

So S100 = P21S 100%? I have to be sure...

S100 = P21S debate has been going on forever and ever. Long long before the 100% Carnauba from P21S appeared. The S100 you get from HD is NOT the 100% version. It should be `more or less` the same as the standard P21S Carnauba wax.

You could go search and find threads from 7 years ago on this very forum about it.

I was aware of the S100 = P21S debate but phrider was claiming that S100 is the equivalent of P21S 100% but in actuality it really is the normal P21S.

I`m still wondering about P21s TAW and Total Cylcle Cleaner. Somebody on another forum e-mailed them about that, and they pretty much gave a similiar answer, that they are different, the TAW is better and they`re not at libert to explain why.
