Why is the waterblade viewed as the devil around here? Is it safe to use or what?

Grit can get caught under it and destroy a good paint job.

do a search and you`ll find plenty of opinions on them...

I used it on white and silver cars for about eight years; never had a complaint. I don`t use it on darker coloured cars now.

A couple of observations:

1. As BlueLibby points out, grit is the enemy. I only used mine as a first pass right after the wash. I did not use it to scrape off every last drop of water. Don`t put it down on pavement; wipe with a towel after each pass.

2. The silicone can/will harden over time. Keep it out of sunlight and wipe dry after every use.

I`ve used one on and off for years with no problems, they`re great for knocking the majority of the water off and they are excellent for glass. There was a guy that mentioned he used a little QD or AW with the waterblade to make it slide easier. I agree that you need to keep the blade clean and protected when not in use.

Mine left scuff marks on both my rides. I returned it to Target for a full refund:)

I`ve used mine all summer with no issues, being careful not to set it on the ground and wiping it after each pass.
