Dull red paint

Hey people, I have to questions. I just picked up a red Rx7 with semi dull red paint and I would like to know what is the best method for restoring it. I used Turtle wax rubbing compound then Polish. It helped alot but I know it can get better. Does the applicator pad turning red mean anything? I did it by hand for fear of swirl marks.



Also how do I remove the sticky chrome trim on along the bottom of the car? Hair dryer? I have a heat gun also. I dont want to take any paint with it.
