Winter is around the corner and I would like to get a sealent on before the snow flys. I have been using Z2 an Z5 through out the summer, but I want a little added protection. I have a few questions.
What sealant are you using?
How often do you apply it?
Thanks in advance.

I use CG`s jetseal109. According to Paul over there it lasts for about 6 months or so.

You can try Collinite 845, 476 as a GREAT protection for winter.
I don`t think they are nuba`s. Solvents with Petroleum Hydrocarbon.
At least that is what it says under the MSDS sheet. Nothing about carnauba.
I will apply 2-3 layers of 845 and I will only wash it during winter. I don`t use it for winter protection, but z5pro has some damn good protection.

I just started doing some research on this a few days ago too.
I think I`m going to try Collinite 845 this year. Seems to be one of the most recommended ones and it`s only $15.

Make sure to shake it really well. Sometimes it`ll look like a thick pasty liquid. Just make sure its a liquid and not pasty.
Plus, if you get lucky you may be able to find it locally. I got 2 bottles of it for $7.99 each while on sale.

My winter protection will consist of DG a mystery sealant provided provided by a forum member topped with DG 105, topped with collinite 476.. That should do the trick...lol

I find Prime Strong/AJ to be quite durable.... I can go 6 months with regular washing and something like AW to extend..

Until I`ve had Opti-Seal or Ultima a bit longer, right now my recommendation would be Werkstatt`s products. Prime and 1 layer of Acrylic Jett lasted a full 8 months on my brother`s van that sees the tunnel wash 2-3 times a month and never gets QD`ed. I got similar results with Zaino but that was 3 layers of ZFX`ed Z2 Pro vs a single layer of AJ.
On the few rare nice winter days you get, I`d either freshen up the finish with either AJ Trigger or Opti-Seal.

I am a bit confused. Z5 and Z2 are concidered sealants? Than what is the difference between CS, Z5, and opti-seal?

I have found that if you immerse the bottle of 845 in a bucket of hot tap water, it does an excellent job of making the 845 flow better and reliquify any dried bits around the bottle. I found a tin of 476s on e-bay for $5. I think you can`t go wrong with 845 or 476s as your winter protection. I have 2 layers of 476 on my car and it really does shine and have the depth of Zymol titanium (and it lasts 5 times as long). I am always looking for the economical way (money and time) to wash and wax and I found collinite to be my all-purpose wax. :grinno:

As far as I know, Z5, Z2, CS, and OS are all sealants, however, CS and OS are of the WOWA variety (Wipe On Walk Away) i.e. they don`t need to be removed by buffing after application.

I use Fk1000P as my winter protection. It is cheap, offers good looks and very durable. I usually do two coats and top a week or so later with Collinite, also cheap and durable.

I think Zaino washes cleaner than 845.

+1 I`m using JetSeal as well, and love it. I run my truck through the machine wash at least once every week for the past 3 to 4 months, and it`s still going strong with only one coat, and no prep. It`s only now after the 4th month that it`s *just* starting to degrade, which isn`t a surprise considering the beating it goes through with every wash.
