I did these two father and son vettes about 2 weeks ago and never got a chance to post so here goes.

First up is the 2007 C6. This is my friends father`s car. This vette is in very good shape and the owner wanted to hold off on any polishing for now. He doesn`t drive it very often and it has only been washed a handful of times. I just did a quick wash and wax to get some protection on the paint. My friend and I are still trying to educate his father.

Wash with turtle wax ice

LSP = Collonite

No before pics as it was just dusty from sitting in the garage.

The 2001 C5 I last detailed over a year ago. It had some swirls and RIDS from some engine work that had been done. It also was sitting outside 24/7 until recently. Now it gets garaged at night! I started this at 3pm and finished at 4:30AM so I didn`t take very many process photos. I was also using my friends camera and I was not very good with it so I had a hard time photographing any swirls. I spent around 14hours total. I was beat.

The owner is a friend of mine and he wanted to remove the body side moldings (BSM) so after washing and claying we set to work at removing the BSM`s. We used a combination of Denatured alcohol, dental floss and blue tape to cut through the double sided foam tape. The car looks much better without the BSM`s! It was fairly easy to do as well.

Process:

Duragloss wash

Claymagic blue with duragloss wash as lube

Duragloss wash

Tarminator on rear fenders to remove rubber

SIP 1500-1800 LC Foamed wool

PO106FF 1500-1800 LC White CCS pad

FMJ X 1 let cure over night

HGAS X 1 the next morning

Tires scrubbed with brush and EO all wheel cleaner protected with Megs Nxt Tech protectant

Wheels done with Megs WB then protected with Wheel wax

Exhaust tips polished with EO NvrDull then Mothers metal polish by owner

The owner also did a quick interior cleaning. Everything was wiped down then protected with Megs Tech protectant. Glass was cleaned with Stoners IG.

Some idea of the swirls. They were much worse but I was no good with this camera.

Polishing is so much easier without the BSM`s!

Very nice. And I agree, the BSM (for me) detracts. Good job!

Thanks! It is much easier to wash/wax/dry/polish without the BSM`s. I wish I could remove them on my car, but there are pins. :wall

jpochile: Thanks. This yellow is called Millenium Yellow. It is a tri color process. I believe it has a tinted clear. I love it as well. It really looks good, especially when it is clean.

red4.8: Thanks for the kind words.

Very nice work on both!

I too hate polishing around the BSMs. I did not have them on my 01 Z06....thank god!

Both the cars look great and the C5 sure looks much better without the BSM. In fact quite a number of my Mazda 3 customers also removed their BSM and IMO the car looks nicer that way too.

Btw what`s your opinion on the turtle wax ice car wash ?
